Devils Backbone Brewing Company

Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows is tucked in the valley of Nelson County on 100 acres surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Basecamp offers a mecca of outdoor activities including bike races, trail run races, and festivals. The pilot brewery is where we craft our recipes on a traditional German designed 10 Hectoliter (8.5 barrel) brewing system. This is our “test kitchen” for recipe development. We pour fresh craft beer from our 16 taps and our pub menu specializes in oak wood -fired smoked dishes and local fare. We are dog friendly – dogs must be on a leash and stay in our designated pet area in the Meadows. Fast-casual is available at the outside Oak Grill along with beer and wine at the Meadows Bar. Light, made to order breakfast fare and specialty coffee is available seven days a week from The Summit and on Sunday, join us for brunch in The Summit 7am – 2pm.

Rebec Vineyards

In 1980, founder Richard Hanson planted the eight acres of noble vitis vinifera grapes. By 1987, the wine produced began selling under the Rebec label. Now, a quarter of a century later, sixteen wines are marketed via winery visits, festivals and local restaurant and retail establishments. The winery was designed and built by Mr. Hanson and his son-in-law Mark Magruder. The building features rich weathered chestnut siding and exposed beams from a 200 year old tobacco barn, which was once on this historic farm. In addition to producing several award-winning wines, and being a forerunner in the Virginia wine industy, Rebec is best known for our annual Virginia Wine & Garlic Festival. The festival began in 1991, and has grown into Virginia's largest agricultural festival. Held each year in October, visitors from across the nation visit our country vineyard for a "stinkin' good time"!

We grow and malt all of our three different types of barley, two different types of wheat, among all other non-GMO grains. The hops are in the ground and looking healthy and strong. Our spring water has proven to be excellent for brewing. We also have our own strain of yeast for specialty beers to round out our all farm brewery. Wood Ridge Farm brewery also houses our one of a kind tap room with wrap around decks to best exploit the remarkable views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and next year's barley dancing the field.
